PROMISE CINECAs 6-month report [1st March 2001 31 August 2001] PROMISE DATA ARCHIVE The Promise Data Archive developed at CINECA includes (so far) simulated datasets on meteorology. The archive is accessible trough a web-based interface (address: http://adamo.cineca.it/promise) that allows both data retrieval and direct visualization of a subset of the archived fields. Status of the Promise Data Archive web site at the 31st of August 2001: · ECMWF PROVOST Ensembles [status: DONE] Visualization of selected data from the seasonal ensemble simulations of the ECMWF atmospheric global circulation model (these integrations were made as part of the PROVOST project (Prediction Of climate Variations On Seasonal to interannual Time-scales), supported by the European Union). The dataset includes ensemble mean anomalies of: 1. Total precipitation (monthly & seasonal means) 2. mean sea level pressure (monthly & seasonal means) 3. maximum temperature at 2m (monthly & seasonal means) Furthermore the PROVOST seasonal forecasts are compared to the corresponding ERA fields. · PRISM Experiments [status: DONE] Visualization and download of selected data from the PRISM (Predictability experiments for the Asian Summer Monsoon) experiments. The dataset includes ensemble mean anomalies of: 1. Total precipitation (monthly and seasonal means) 2. Wind at 850 hPa The PRISM simulated dataset is compared to the corresponding NCEP reanalysis fields.
This is a coupled transient integration simulating the possible response of climate and ozone to a scenario of greenhouse gases increase for the 21st century performed at CNRM with a recent version of the ARPEGE-Climate atmospheric general circulation model (AGCM) of Météo-France, coupled interactively by means of the coupler OASIS from CERFACS to the Ocean general circulation model OPA 8.0 from IPSL/LODYC and the sea-ice model GELATO. At the present the dataset includes monthly and seasonal means of: 1. Total precipitation 2. Mean sea level pressure 3. Maximum temperature at 2m The current climate (1966-1995) simulated dataset is compared to the corresponding NCEP reanalysis fields, while both 2010-2039 and 2040-2069 scenarios are compared to the simulated current climate. By the end of October the monthly archive will be completed. Daily fields will be available for download by the end of December. In order to access visualization and download the project partners will be provided with a login name and password. External users will be enabled to visualization and/or download as well, subject to the project coordinator agreement. |
